Summer is coming. I am thinking about summer. I am planning my exit from town, counting the days and ordering a few summer “essentials.” For me, this means: semi-sheer dresses and slappy heels from the SSENSE sale. (These, these.)

Priscavera is a brand that has often supplied me with sexy beach coverups. I got an e-mail today that the summer drop is here. I have been wearing versions of Prisca’s ribbed slips for years and years now. Some of her stuff is hilariously summery, and you have to be extremely hot to pull it off. (The designer herself is beautiful and thin with long flaxen hair. Currently pregnant, so hotter than ever.) Purchase a ridiculous “going out top” today.

“The Ribbed Slip Dress is exactly that: a fluid, body-skimming slip elevated by PRISCAVera's French Metallic Maille—shimmering holographic ribbed texture.”

I stopped into Azaleas to do a little swimwear shopping, and accidentally ran into my favorite bra salesperson in New York City: Faye Odesser. I first met her when she was working at Agent Provocateur, and I was shopping for wedding underwear. (This was my “something blue.”) Her presence is worth going to the store—because her commitment to helping you find a bra is unparalleled. She will bring you fifty options if she has to. Seek her out. While there, I bought an Araks bra in white (and later, online, I got the white slip). I’d been avoiding the brand, because I found the color blocking too abrasive for my taste, but I must say, everything fits great…

In addition to being the best shop girl of all time, Faye is a writer! And the beautiful underwear model for Araks is Ava Pearlman, who just launched her own small clothing brand. I love the Women of New York. They really are doing so many things at once.

Book Club Housekeeping

Fun news for the Gift Guide Book Club contingent! The funniest woman in the world—novelist/memoirist/former book PR genius Sloane Crosley—will be joining me in conversation for our first zoom this Sunday. And thank god. The very idea of me doing anything like a monologue was keeping me up at night. Gift Guide Book Club will be having an in-person meetup next month in New York City. Open bar, details to come! Thank you, Substack. If you want to join, you can find all the information here.

Following book club, I will be attending the fundraiser for Zohran downtown. It’s an Oscar watch party at the old Pyramid club. Not sure how you can beat that. I will be voting for him for mayor. As should you. (He did a 15 day hunger strike for the cabbies who bought worthless/predatory medallions; he wants free buses; he cares about poor people.) Chapo will be there, and so will TrueAnon. Bernie Bros reactivate!! I really mean that.

“Professional Wash” Jeans

This week I texted Laura Reilly about her jeans. And then I e-mailed Emilia Petrarca about her jeans. And then I realized they were wearing the same fucking pair of jeans!
