Sorry to post twice in one day but I’m at the airport bar and I’d like to share an opinion: Sunglasses are most important in winter. (How to make a manly balaclava look cool? Add sunglasses. And trust me when I say, if you aren’t wearing a balaclava, start now.)
If you’re going to buy sunglasses, I can’t recommend a brand more than Jacques Marie Mage.
They describe their sunglasses thus: “JMM frames are thick, dark, sturdy, heavy — yup, it’s okay, you can say it, they are fat.” JMM frames can be hard to get, and they have limited runs (each pair is a run of 500, I believe). Max Berlinger wrote a piece about the “architectural heft” of the glasses for the Times in 2021.
I should note they do tinted blue and yellow lenses. This is important. Old white women who stay indoors all day should all wear blue lenses, it looks great on untanned skin.

Alexis Page owns 3 pairs, and she will talk you through them
Resident beauty expert Alexis Page has been talking to me obsessively about this brand, which was founded in 2015, for years. "They’re very niche popular with psychos, if that makes sense. I’ve never read an article about them. I think that’s by design.” She says they have a store in Los Angeles, which can be… difficult. (Each pair of sunglasses is pulled out individually, and you really have to know what you’re looking for.) “They are very hard to find otherwise. Sometimes Bergdorf has some or the optician on St. Marks. They don’t lose value, they don’t go on sale, and in fact when I’ve looked on eBay or RealReal they’re often selling for higher than original price.”
