I love that Diane von Fürstenberg’s husband is gay. Doing a bit of googling about Cloudwalk, von Fürstenberg’s Connecticut estate, I came across an article that said André Leon Talley dubbed Litchfield County “the fashion belt.” Over the weekend, I took the train up to Connecticut to see my new house, and pick out which furniture to keep (it’s half-furnished, I don’t own four beds), which was a bit like guiltless shopping. Sam McKinniss and I drove over to see Scott Asen, my new neighbor, and, with a large group of musicians and their affiliates, proceeded to The Old Inn on the Green. A perfect restaurant, and not just because we arrived with a flat tire and they’d changed it by the time we exited. I just love a low-ceiling joint with all-American food.
I hate Rashid Johnson’s art and I’ve gone so far out of my way to make sure I don’t go to a single party at the Guggenheim right now. They are really renting that space out! Likewise, photos of Nate Lowman’s new show also really depressed me: the title, the art, the ideas. I know Gen X is getting some shine right now, but not from me!
