Melissa Gamwell, a calligrapher in West Cornwall, has released a new maze-themed birthday card. Very suitable. Reach out to her for reasonably-priced custom work.
I want to get a drink with Percival Everett. Great reading section pick in Harper’s. Just a joke he told at a gala.
I tore through the first half of Kate Zambreno’s new book Foam last night on accident. I really meant to only take a look, but I got sucked in. So far it’s about how much she hates the students she hired to help her watch her newborn. I find Kate’s work intoxicating and repulsive—you want to just jump into the text and shake her. I say this as a compliment.
I really appreciate a summer accessories story. It takes me back to the heyday of magazines. W magazine did a simple color story. Vogue magazine took books to the beach. (I’m really into the uptick in books coverage at Vogue. More, more, more!)
Bryan Graham reports that the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens is closing on Sunday, after 132 years. Devastating to me—but of course, I never went. Why! I’ve had a “fondness” for horse racing ever since I read Cigarettes. Bryan shot some great photos. (According to the Times, “Its racing schedule will be moved to the newly renovated Belmont Park nearby, just over the Queens border.”)
Very reasonably-priced summer gypsy jewelry. I like the imperfections.
Attersee is a thoughtful brand. The founder is a magazine editor, and you can feel a strong narrative coursing through the project. I’ve gone to the reading series they host in their store on the Upper East Side, and the audience is influencer-free; just lots of women who read books and do interesting things. I’ve been running around my house in this Very Serious Shirt. The perfect thing to wear without pants or a bra on zoom.

What a cute puffer for a cool guy. I feel like Maartin Keehn clothes are SC103 for men. Experimental in the 1990s sense—maybe ugly, certainly unplaceable.
Hilton Als reviewed the Celine Men’s Show for Vogue. Great publicity work on behalf of the team: “I was very moved by how adept the Celine team was in taking care of us.”
“445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol.” Vanity Fair profiled Garth Fisher, Kylie Jenner’s surgeon. “The scent of burnt skin lingers in the air.” You know what, I am terrified of beauty interventions. That’s the only thing stopping me: fear.
I just got my new Millaux linen sheets. I’m very taken with the unexpected colors—grey & mint?! Do I own a lot of these sheets: yes.
“Birthright citizenship is a right guaranteed by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.” Reading about immigration in this country makes me want to cry. I know you’re all reading about this, and there’s no reason to link to it.
It’s well-documented that Celine won fashion week. (“You wait and you wait and you wait, and then, if you’re lucky, you see a collection like the Celine men’s show on Sunday afternoon.”) This jacket in particular though—I would never take it off.
