Why do all the gift guides suck?

The stylist Kat Jenkins is always complaining about something, and from what I can tell, never wrong. An essential Instagram follow:

I don’t know Kat Jenkins in real life, nor do I remember how I came to follow her. Her bio says she’s a stylist. She curates a number of emerging brands here.

All good questions. The answer is: You wouldn’t!

How to decorate the most beautiful home of all time? Read a book!

I drove to Litchfield County at the crack of dawn Monday for Thanksgiving Week listening to the Wives are in Connecticut. My friend, the painter Sam McKinniss, has a lovely home decorated floor-to-ceiling in Christmas colors (and plaid). There are six coats of green lacquer paint in his living room. He’s a design genius. (You’ll soon see it in an Important Print Magazine, so I can’t share photos.)

I forced Sam to do a pull from his design library to give everyone some inspiration for the holidays. (“Design books, particularly those consulted while doing your own home, do not belong on a coffee table. Huge taboo; it makes guests uncomfortable. Reference books go on the shelf. In your library.”)
